The House Rules (“we,” “us”) operates thehouserules.co. We are a referral service: we collect homeowner quote requests and pass them to independent home-improvement companies. This policy explains what we collect and what happens to it.
Information we collect
- What you give us: your name, email, phone number, property address, whether you own the home, the type of project, your timeframe, whether the project relates to an open insurance claim, and optional details such as roof material or number of openings.
- Collected automatically: your IP address, browser type (user agent), the page you submitted from, and a record of your session on the form page (see “Consent records”).
- Emails you send us.
How we use it
- To match your request with a company that may serve your area and to deliver your request to it.
- To contact you about your request, if you gave consent.
- To keep records of your consent, prevent fraud and duplicates, and comply with the law.
- To operate and improve this site.
Who we share it with
- Home-improvement companies and the platforms used to deliver requests to them. We send the information you submit to the company or companies that buy or receive your request, and to lead-delivery services that route it, such as Lead Prosper. Those companies may contact you, and their own privacy policies apply to what they receive.
- Service providers that help us run the site and keep consent records, including TrustedForm (ActiveProspect), which records how you interact with the form page, and, if enabled, Jornaya. Our site also asks a third-party service for your IP address when you open the form.
- Authorities or advisers when the law requires it or to protect our rights.
- We do not sell your information for any purpose other than delivering your quote request to the companies described above.
Consent records
To prove that you agreed to be contacted, our form page uses a tool that records the page, your inputs and the consent text shown, together with the time and your IP address. Records are kept as long as needed to document consent and resolve disputes.
Cookies and advertising
We do not set advertising cookies at this time. If we add advertising pixels, such as Meta’s, we will update this policy first. Your browser settings control cookies you do not want.
Your choices
- Stop calls and texts: reply STOP to any text, tell the caller to stop, or email hello@thehouserules.co. Companies that received your request may keep their own records and lists, so ask them to stop as well.
- Access, correction or deletion: email us. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have rights to know, delete or correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We will respond as the law requires. We may keep records we must keep.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep records only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or de-identify them.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
